The Acid Lab can be a useful first business for a solo GTA Online player because its introduction gives you a mission route to follow and its delivery work uses the Manchez Scout C motorcycle. Start by learning that route. Owning a large truck is only one part of having a working business.

The normal story route is to finish the six First Dose missions, collect the required laboratory equipment and install the lab at the Freakshop. The separate Equipment Upgrade becomes available after ten completed Fooligan Jobs. Those jobs are Dax’s extra work, not the six First Dose story missions.

This is about the current GTA Online, independently of GTA VI. Official references were checked on 14 October 2026. Prices, promotions and exact production timings should be checked in your game; this guide does not turn a dated bonus into a current income promise.

Understand the four different jobs in this business

The introduction, upgrades, supply work and sales can easily blur together. Keep them separate and the next step becomes much clearer.

Part of the route What you are trying to achieve What to check before moving on
First Dose and lab setup Establish a functioning Acid Lab The story steps and required equipment are complete
Fooligan Jobs Meet the Equipment Upgrade requirement Successful completions, not just jobs accepted
Supplies and production Turn ingredients into sellable product Supply level, product level and upgrade state
Sell mission Deliver the product and finish the transaction Mission instructions, session choice and time to finish

Completing a story mission does not automatically mean a sale is ready. Ordering supplies does not instantly create a full load of product. Unlocking an upgrade does not mean you have purchased it. These are different states, with different things to do next.

Before buying anything else, find which row describes your character. A returning player with an installed lab can usually begin with its management controls. A new player still in First Dose should finish the current mission prompt rather than buying unrelated property.

Start with Ron and follow First Dose

Rockstar’s Los Santos Drug Wars introduction points players towards Ron’s call and the Fooliganz at Liquor Ace in Sandy Shores. Follow the current map marker and briefing for that story strand. The first mission is Welcome to the Troupe.

Rockstar’s title-update 1.64 notes describe the six story missions as accepting one to four players. You can therefore take the introductory route alone. Solo eligibility does not remove combat, driving or mission objectives; allow yourself room to learn each mission.

Treat a completed mission as your first stopping point. When its result is confirmed, inspect the next First Dose prompt. You do not need to force all six into one evening. If you are new to combat, a slower complete attempt is more useful than repeatedly restarting an unfamiliar job on the hardest setting.

Carry a clear objective into each attempt. For example, if the briefing asks you to recover something, protect that item during the fight. Park where you can leave after the objective rather than abandoning your vehicle in a position that is hard to reach.

The solo contact-mission guide covers that general approach. Use it when the story route is being slowed by combat or confusing mission prompts.

Finish the equipment step and install the lab

At the end of the normal First Dose route, the Brickade 6x6 becomes the base for your mobile operation. You still need the required laboratory equipment and the installation step at the Freakshop before treating it as a working business.

Follow the game’s equipment prompt and return to the Freakshop. Check the modification or installation option there, read its current cost and confirm that you are choosing the Acid Lab installation. Decorative changes to the vehicle do not replace this step.

After installation, enter the lab and locate Mutt and the management controls. Inspect supplies and product so you recognise the difference before starting work. The supply meter concerns ingredients; the product meter concerns what has already been made and can eventually be sold.

If you obtained a functioning Acid Lab through another legitimate route, inspect it before repeating setup. Rockstar has issued fixes for situations where a setup marker remained after a working lab was already owned. A marker on the map and the actual state of your business can disagree. Confirm whether the lab is operational instead of assuming you must buy it twice.

For a missing lab after a completed story step, first make sure you are on the right character and check the Freakshop and available service-vehicle options. If the game still fails to provide the expected result, keep the mission name and platform for a support request. Do not delete your character to test a business-unlock problem.

Installation and the Equipment Upgrade are different purchases

The installation makes the business possible. The Equipment Upgrade improves its production speed and product value. Rockstar explicitly documents ten completed Fooligan Jobs as the requirement for unlocking that upgrade at the Freakshop.

Call Dax to request Fooligan Jobs when available. These are extra tasks, separate from First Dose. The official update notes say Dax’s job access begins after Welcome to the Troupe. You can work towards the upgrade while continuing the broader introduction, but you must keep track of which kind of mission you are doing.

Count successful completions. Starting ten jobs, joining someone else’s activity or repeating story missions is not a safe substitute for checking the upgrade’s requirement on your character. When you return to the Freakshop, inspect the option and read what it says.

If the next Dax job is unavailable, read the phone response rather than repeatedly calling. Use the gap for another activity or end the session at a confirmed result. The references checked here do not establish a universal current cooldown for every situation, so this guide does not ask you to plan your evening around an unverified minute count.

Once the requirement is met, unlocking and buying remain separate actions. Check the displayed purchase cost and your remaining balance. Keep enough money for the way you intend to supply the business. Spending everything on an upgrade and having nothing left for your chosen routine can leave an otherwise useful asset idle.

Buy supplies or source them yourself?

Mutt can order supplies, or you can obtain them through resupply work. Neither choice is automatically best for every account.

Buying uses in-game money to avoid doing that particular supply task. Sourcing uses your attention and time instead. If you enjoy the missions or have very little spare GTA$, a source job can be a reasonable way to learn the system. If you prefer spending the session on a familiar paid activity, purchasing may fit better.

Compare the whole session rather than the supply price alone. A supply run that repeatedly fails is not free in terms of your evening. Equally, ordering ingredients while barely playing the lab’s routine may be a poor use of a small balance.

Here is a hypothetical comparison. Alex has a working lab and enough reserve money but only wants one main mission tonight. Ordering supplies may let Alex spend that attention on the chosen mission. Sam is still learning the business and wants to understand where ingredients come from. One resupply job may teach Sam more than immediately buying every batch. Neither example promises a particular profit.

Choose one method for your next cycle. Check the resulting supply level and let that evidence guide the following session. Avoid changing methods after every phone call simply because someone describes one as the universal fastest route.

Give production a place in your ordinary play

Manufacturing is a stage between obtaining supplies and selling product. The useful habit is to inspect the lab, start the supply action you actually need, then play another suitable activity while the business operates under the game’s conditions.

Check the production-boost interaction inside the lab when it is available. Rockstar’s launch description notes that helping with a short shift increases production speed. Read the current prompt for when you can use it. Do not assume a historical membership bonus or weekly speed event is part of the normal business.

There is also a product-name choice. Rockstar’s title-update 1.67 notes say available Acid Product names increase sell value. Review that option as part of setup rather than assuming naming is only decoration. The exact current value belongs on your own sale screen, not in a calculation copied from an old promotion.

Do not build your plan around leaving the game unattended through a workaround. A business that fits your ordinary playing time is easier to maintain than one that only looks worthwhile under an invented all-day schedule.

If supply or product levels appear unchanged, inspect the simple causes first: did the order or source job finish, is the business operational, and is the product already at its storage limit? Read the current controls and messages before adding another purchase.

Prepare for your first sale before pressing Sell

The Acid Lab includes the Manchez Scout C, which Rockstar identifies as its delivery motorcycle. Practise ordinary riding before risking a product delivery: accelerate gently, leave braking room and learn how the bike behaves over kerbs and uneven roads.

Choose a session you can handle. Rockstar’s Criminal Enterprises changes made business selling available in private sessions; the invite-only guide explains the broader session choice. A quieter session removes public-player pressure, but the mission can still have enemies, police or demanding delivery instructions.

Inspect the sell prompt and product amount. Make sure you have a reliable period to finish the job. A large displayed value is not a good reason to start a sale two minutes before you expect to be called away.

During the mission, follow the actual instructions. Look at the required delivery action, any changing markers and the remaining objective count. Reaching a location and completing the interaction there are not always the same thing.

If the job introduces a wanted level or enemies, respond to that condition before blindly following the road line. A waypoint is a navigation aid, not a promise that the direct route is safe. Keep enough space to turn around and inspect your next destination when the situation changes.

Do not assume quitting or switching sessions will recover the full value of an unsuccessful sale. Check the stock and result after returning. This guide does not recommend a reset trick as insurance against a risky commitment.

Build a routine with three sensible stopping points

A manageable Acid Lab routine does not need constant visits. Give it a beginning, a middle and a confirmed end.

At the beginning, inspect supplies and product. If supplies need attention, source or order them using the method you chose. Check the upgrade and boost options if those are still part of your setup work.

In the middle, play an activity you want to complete. That might be a contact mission, a practice session or another owned-business task. Avoid opening five new systems just to fill the time. The progression guide helps connect one investment to a repeatable activity.

At the end, inspect product and your available time. If you can make a deliberate sale, prepare the bike and complete it. If your time is uncertain, leave a simple note about the current product and supplies instead of starting a delivery you cannot commit to.

A hypothetical three-session introduction could be: learn First Dose and establish the lab; finish the remaining upgrade requirement and inspect production; then learn one sale without adding another business. This is a suggested order, not a claim that every player will finish it in three sessions.

Know when another purchase is actually useful

Consider spending when it removes a problem you have observed. The Equipment Upgrade has a documented business purpose. A vehicle modification may help if your current delivery handling or protection is a real difficulty. A decorative choice is fine when you want it, but it should not be confused with progress towards an operational goal.

Keep track of money spent on supplies, upgrades and optional modifications alongside completed sales. Your sale receipt shows money received; it does not by itself show your remaining profit after costs. First-time rewards and temporary bonuses also should not be mixed into a normal repeatable-cycle estimate.

If the loop feels like a chore, pause it before investing more. Maybe the combat strand was fun but deliveries are not. Maybe a business suits longer evenings while your current schedule is shorter. The guide to avoiding progress sprawl helps keep one disappointing purchase from turning into three more.

The Acid Lab works best as a business you understand: clear unlocks, a chosen supply method, product you can inspect and a delivery you are ready to complete. Establish that small routine first. Then decide whether expanding it improves the way you actually like to play.
